Coastal Bedroom Furniture

Everyone dreams of a cottage home overlooking the sea – Atlantic, Pacific, or Gulf.  Our collections of beach house & coastal furniture and décor provide a way to fulfill your dreams. It may be a tropical seaside villa with waves gently lapping and breezes softly blowing.  Or it may be a more dramatic ocean home with the surf crashing on the rocks and seagulls soaring overhead – just like here in Maine.  For some it is a vacation seaside bungalow get-away – for others a year-round beach house retreat.  A coastal cottage can even be found inland or in the city – bringing the lure of the sea into your home.  There are many different ways our coastal furniture and coastal style décor can help to create your perfect beach house – here are three of our favorites:

Beach house furniture and décor are an excellent chance to be bold in your coastal decorating scheme. Painted furniture in bright aquas, colorful corals, striking yellows – the bolder, the better – is a great start.  White or natural slipcovered furniture can provide a backdrop for all those colors to pop!

A sisal rug, fresh plants and crisp furnishings add natural elements to this spacious bedroom. A wall covered with multiple frames draws the eye toward the bed wall that also features a raffia bed, which is a popular furniture choice in coastal design. Photo courtesy of Felton

Designer Bruce Palmer decorated this spacious bedroom with a variety of blue hues for a dimensional look. Sea-inspired artwork is a main focal point, but coastal accessories are dispersed throughout the space for a complete beach feel. A sailboat model and whitewashed walls instantly add a coastal feel to this bedroom. Layla Palmer of The Lettered Cottage kept things cool and breezy by implementing soft blues and grays. For a mix-and-match look, she hung mismatched frames in black and brown, giving the impression the room was decorated over time.

Coral prints and color are the main attraction in this bedroom. Designer Bruce Palmer carried the bedding pattern through to the artwork above the bed, and the bamboo ceiling fan enhances the coastal style of the space. Calming white, cream, and tan slipcovered furniture create a monochromatic scheme inspired by the natural elements found at the seashore.  Weathered gray cottage wicker fits nicely.  Shells, sea glass, rope, and rustic driftwood reflect this theme in your coastal décor and accessories.

Combining different patterns and textures is one key element in coastal design. Designer Sarah Richardson mixed bold nautical stripes with a soft color palette to bring visual interest while keeping a lighthearted look. Accessories, like the lifesaver float on the wall, bring a beach-inspired look. Sarah continued the stripes to the floor for a complete look.

A blue color palette is common in coastal design, but designer Adam Zollinger went with a subdued green that creates the same soothing effect. The striped ceiling treatment not only adds a nautical feel, but it also adds the illusion of height to the space.

Comfortable, inviting furniture gives this bedroom an easygoing feel. Designer Kim Armstrong’s intention when designing the space was to bring the beach indoors with soothing color tones, sea-inspired prints and wood accents.

Designer Kim Armstrong hung vintage oars above the bed to create a beach-inspired focal point in this otherwise neutral space. To enhance the design, she also incorporated rattan furniture, soft blue accents and a driftwood dresser with a weathered look.
